Notification of Value Added Tax

According to China’s Cai Shui [2013] No. 37 (Circular 37) Notice on Tax Policy Concerning Nationwide Implementation of VAT Pilot Program for Transport and Modern Services Sectors jointly issued by the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation, as from 1 August 2013 the tax policy concerning China’s Value Added Tax (VAT) pilot program will be expanded nationwide. The notice states businesses providing from all of shipping Lines will be taxed VAT with ratio of 6% since 1st August 2013. With the implementation of the China’s Cai Shui [2013] No. 37 Notice, all of shipping lines would have to announce that value added tax of 6% will be applicable for all charges paid only at PRC since 1st August 2013, and the effective date will be according to shipping lines’ VAT Fapiao issuance date in August 2013.
