Security Cargo Network’s ninth annual conference sees record number of delegates

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Security Cargo Network returned to the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers in Kowloon for its recently held ninth annual international conference.  The global freight forwarder group met there in 2005 and decided to return to deliver its Asia offering in 2011.  SCN meetings are held by turns in the US, Europe and Asia in order to fairly distribute the travel burden for most.
Some 215 registered delegates attended the three-day conference that, as usual, featured a mix of general sessions and pre-arranged one-on-one meetings between the member companies in half-hour segments.  The gathering was highlighted by the annual Awards conference, which saw distinguished service awards go to Air Master Shipping/Sea Master Shipping (Hamburg and Frankfurt, Germany), BC Logistics (Phoenix, USA), Cargomind (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Global Forwarding (Melbourne, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand), Maisliner Transport (Montreal, Canada) and Preford Logistics (Hong Kong, China, Vietnam and Cambodia).
Presentations during the general sessions were given by companies from China, India, Israel, Russia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Other items on the card were a presentation by FP Marine Risks, the network’s preferred provider of cargo and FSL insurance, and the annual shareholders’ meeting of the SecurityPlus Financial Corp.  SecurityPlus! is SCN’s member-owned payment guarantee program protecting all members against the default or bankruptcy of another member.
In 2012, Security Cargo Network will celebrate its 10th anniversary.  The conference will be in March in Miami Beach, USA.
