Security Cargo Network prepares for record-setting annual conference

Saturday, January 22, 2011

SCN President Dave Lucia SCN President Dave LuciaSecurity Cargo Network is preparing for its largest conference ever, with a crowd of some 225 delegates anticipated to attend.

"Last year's Vienna conference was a heartbreaker because of the ash cloud over Europe," Security Cargo Network President Dave Lucia said.  "We had over 150 registered, but only 37 could make it.  Hence we are seeing the release of a little pent-up demand, along with the fact that our Asian meetings are always well attended."

The conference will be held at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers, which is located in the heart of Kowloon at the head of the Nathan Road shopping district.  Registration will take place on February 15, while the conference sessions will be the 16th through 18th.

"The bulk of our conferences are dedicated to one-on-one meetings between member companies, and in the week that the online scheduler has been open, thousands of meetings have already been set," Lucia said.  "We will also have some interesting topics for discussion in the two general sessions, including ongoing work on improving cooperation among those who do a lot of project cargo, a program review and update from our preferred provider of cargo and FSL insurance, member presentations including a focus on India, and of course, the annual shareholders' meeting of SecurityPlus! Fianancial Corp, our member-owned payment guarantee program."

Security Cargo Network conferences are restricted to members only and are held in Asia, North America and Europe in rotation.  Next year's conference will be in March in Miami Beach, USA.
