NCBFAA E. I. Director Cindy Allen joins CBP

Thursday, August 5, 2010

Washington, DC: The National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) is pleased to announce that one of our own, Cynthia D. (Jerome) Allen, LCB, CCS, has been hired by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to be an ACE Business Director. Cindy has been the Director of the NCBFAA Educational Institute (NEI) for the past 18 months. She has played a major role in the promotion and growth of the Certified Customs Specialists (CCS) and Certified Export Specialists (CES) programs. We all wish Cindy well and hope that she will be able to bring some of the broker perspective to our friends and colleagues at Customs.

Though we hate to lose Cindy, your Association is well prepared as we now have Mr. Brian Barber at the helm in the NEI. Brian has been on the job since early July and is well qualified to handle the Department. A licensed Customs Broker with over 12 years of industry experience, Brian was previously an office manager for a Customs Broker in Buffalo, New York. He is a CCS and is currently enrolled in the CES course. He has already relocated to Washington D.C. and will be on the job every day ensuring that our members and NEI clients receive top quality customer service. Brian brings a number of new ideas with him. These combined with our significantly enhanced computer platform (coming in October), will provide our educational institute participants with even more exciting offerings and programs. There are already numerous valuable webinars and seminars listed on our website and he is currently working on additional sessions that are extremely timely in our ever changing world of international trade.

To assist Brian in the NEI department, we have recently promoted Ms. Cecilia "Ceci" Ferrara, a recent graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park where she was a member of numerous honor societies. Her resume includes an internship with the Washington Redskins, a technology apprenticeship at UMD, and editing and administrative experience for a Georgetown University publication. Her strong IT background in social media, website maintenance, graphic design and customer service will add another dimension to our NEI staff.

Please join us in welcoming the new NEI team. Hopefully many of you will be attending the NCBFAA 2010 Government Affairs Conference in September and will have a chance to say hello to Brian and Ceci in person. Make your reservations today at
