New fumigation requirements for imports in Malaysia

The following regulation will be implemented in all Malaysian Sea Ports effective 1st Jan 2010.
Any shipment that is consigned to Malaysia without the fumigation certificate will incur high penalty cost for storage or treatment charges at destination.
Notice of Implementation of ISPM No.15 for Imports:

The Department of Agriculture (DOA) Malaysia will be implementing ISPM No.15 for imports starting 1st January 2010. As such, all wood packaging material (WPM) used in any consignments imported into Malaysia should be treated and marked accordingly. If it is not treated ISPM No.15, the commodity will be returned to sender/country of origin or destruction of WPM, all of which is at the exporter's/importer's expense.
